The journey of working in the agriculture sector started 4 years ago when I tested the soil of farms in my village. The results were very shocking, the soil was becoming infertile day by day. With more research, I got to know that this is happening due to destructive and non- environmentally friendly chemical farming practices. After that, I decided to work with farmers to improve soil health and started our initiative AGRO RANGERS. Under this, I started working in our farmer’s community to train farmers in Regenerative Organic Farming and connecting farmers directly to consumers under the “Family Farmer” model.
Due to the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021, we faced many challenges on a personal and organizational level. But, thanks to all our friends, farmers, supporters, consumers, and well-wishers for your constant support, believing in us and helping us out in this crucial time.
Currently, we are working on setting up a training center and research center on 7 acres of barren land to train farmers in regenerative organic farming.
If you know any experts, farmers, volunteers, interns, or supporters who would like to contribute or join us, please feel free to reach us. Your help/knowledge will be appreciable in this social cause.
Please feel free to give your input on this report and our work.
We have organized 3 days’ workshop on contour farming. This was an experiential workshop to provide a dynamic platform for learning contours making on the slop and flat land by making use of hydro-marker tool along with contour farming principles. Participate and get hands-on practice of making contour trenches for harvesting rainwater and preventing soil erosion.
Our contour farming workshop. There were 14 participants who actively participated in this workshop and learned the application of the hydro marker tool in contour marking practically. Now we are having a farm labour community at our farm who have already initiated making trenches on marked contours during the workshop. Through this workshop, we were able to create employment opportunities too for these labour communities who only have farm work as their sole income source. Keeping a view of using water effectively, we are planting native trees on these contours. Very soon we will be sharing the photographs of developed contour. We are very thankful to all the participants for their active participation.
We have acquired 7 acres of barren land where we are going to set up a regenerative organic farming training centre. This centre will be used in training farmers. Here we are going to create the following models.
Designing this centre will not be easy. And that’s why we are collaborating with different interested organizations who can come together and build this centre. If you know anyone who can help in designing, then please feel free to connect.
1) Rain Water Harvesting system,
2) Biodiverse native plants forest,
3) Compost Factory,
4) Organic Nursery,
5) Eco-friendly hut for Training space,
6) Agroforestry model,
7) Kitchen Garden,
8) Indigenous Seed Bank,
9) Intercropping Mix, Cropping models
10) Contour Farming,
11) Animal Husbandry Unit
12) Value addition unit,
13) Marketing Model.
We have achieved our first milestone by doing bore well. This land is barren land where we are going to create a training centre. So, we are dependent on bore well only. This borewell will help in irrigating the whole training centre and model farm. We are also working on groundwater recharge so that from the bore well we can get enough water.
We have created Trenches on 2 acres of land so that rain water can be harvested and ground water level can increase.
This will help us in rejuvenating land and cultivate on barren land even in summer time.
On 2 acres of a barren wasteland, we have made 1000 holes to plant trees. By planting trees, we can rejuvenate the soil.
In these holes we are going to plant various types of tree saplings. We are looking for volunteers and support to buy and plant saplings.
Access Agriculture has done a shooting of how our marketing model works. This film is based on the experiences of 25 farmers who have taken our marketing model seriously and now delivering their products directly to consumers from their organic farms. Access Agriculture made a complete video where we have e shown all the steps. We are hoping to publish our videos soon.
We have organized a program called “be a farmer for a day” for our consumers families to get exposure and understand the effort of our farmers in growing food.
We have visited Raghunath Dhole’s Devrai Nursery where he introduced his nursery and different models which he made in his farm.
Rahul Rasal is doing great farming of grapes. Our group of farmer got motivation to do diverse types of different farming instead of just doing rice and wheat cultivation.
This kind of exposure visit open the eyes of farmers and learn the different techniques. We are planning to organize more exposure visits in future of farmers.
Our team participated in KNOCK workshop which held in Odisha from 27th Dec to 28th Dec. In these two days we learn best way of doing accounting, taxation, compliances, fundraising, strategic planning, accounting, audit and we also shared each other experiences.
Mumbai Mata Bal Sangopan Kendra Organization visited our farm and learned our practices of regenerative organic farming.
